Description

The Thorlabs FKBV10 is a set of 10 mounted hard-coated VIS/NIR bandpass filters, designed to transmit a well-defined wavelength band while rejecting unwanted radiation outside the passband.

Each filter has a 10 nm full width at half maximum (FWHM) and is designed around a different center wavelength, providing a convenient collection of narrowband filters for optical experiments. The kit covers center wavelengths from 351 nm to 800 nm.

The filters use hard-coated dielectric coatings on UV fused silica substrates. This coating technology provides high transmission in the passband, steep transitions at the edges of the passband, and strong suppression outside the transmission region. The hard-coated construction also provides greater durability than many conventional soft-coated interference filters.

Each filter is mounted in an unthreaded Ø25.0 mm black-anodized aluminum ring. The mounted filters can be installed into compatible Ø1" lens tubes and filter mounts using retaining rings, making them easy to incorporate into existing optical setups.

The filters are also engraved with the center wavelength, FWHM, lot number, and transmission direction, making individual filters easy to identify during experiments. Thorlabs notes that the indicated transmission direction primarily affects backscatter and reflection rather than the filter's filtering performance.
