Key Highlights

  • No liquid nitrogen required: Provides LN₂-free cooling with no loss of detector performance.
  • Advanced cryogenic technology: Uses industry-proven Sunpower Stirling cooler with Active Vibration Cancellation (AVC™) for low vibration and low noise.
  • High reliability: Mechanical cooler with MTTF > 200,000 hours and maintenance-free design.
  • Immediate recovery: Hardened cryostat versions (ICS, ICS-E) allow instant cooldown after power loss without full thermal cycling.
  • Versatile models: Available in multiple versions, including ICS-E, ICS-HJ (hardened cryostat), and ICS-P4 (PopTop compatible).

Description

The ICS Integrated Cryocooling System is ORTEC’s advanced electro-mechanical cooling solution for high-purity germanium (HPGe) radiation detectors that eliminates the need for liquid nitrogen. It uses a sealed cryostat with a Stirling cooler, providing stable and efficient cryogenic temperatures with minimal vibration and low audible noise. This system is compatible with a wide range of detector models and is suitable for many applications where LN₂ refill and maintenance are impractical.
