Description
The Thorlabs LPNIRB050-MP2 is an SM05-mounted linear polarizer designed for controlling and analyzing the polarization state of light over the 650–1100 nm wavelength range.
This polarizer uses a nanoparticle-based polarizing element and is permanently mounted inside an SM05-threaded housing, providing a compact and convenient solution for integration into free-space optical systems.
The polarizer maintains an extinction ratio of at least 200:1 across its full operating bandwidth, while an extinction ratio greater than 1000:1 is maintained from 695 to 1100 nm. A high extinction ratio indicates strong discrimination between the desired polarization state and its orthogonal component, making the polarizer suitable for precision polarization control and measurement.
The optic has a 0.55 ± 0.1 mm thickness and a 10.9 mm clear aperture. Its SM05 housing provides external SM05 (0.535"-40) series threads, allowing straightforward integration with compatible Thorlabs optomechanical components.
The LPNIRB050-MP2 is also suitable for applications involving high-quality polarization control in laser and nonlinear optical systems. For example, it has been used in optical microscopy and nonlinear imaging systems to measure and control the polarization state of laser light.
