Description

The Thorlabs LSA01-B is a 22-piece set of Ø1/2" (12.7 mm) N-BK7 spherical singlet lenses designed to provide a broad selection of positive and negative focal lengths for optical experimentation, prototyping, alignment, and system development.

The kit contains Plano-Convex, Bi-Convex, Plano-Concave, and Bi-Concave lenses, covering focal lengths of 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, and 100 mm for the positive lenses, and -15, -25, -30, and -50 mm for the negative lenses. This combination allows users to perform a wide variety of beam-shaping and imaging functions using a single lens set.

The lenses are manufactured from N-BK7, a commonly used optical glass with good transmission throughout much of the visible and near-infrared spectrum. The 650–1050 nm broadband antireflection coating makes this version particularly suitable for optical systems operating in the red, near-infrared, and short-wave NIR regions.

Each lens is mounted in an engraved, threaded cell, allowing the individual optics to be handled more easily and integrated into compatible Thorlabs optomechanical systems. The mounts use threading compatible with the SM05 system, making it possible to install the lenses into appropriate lens tubes and other SM05-threaded components.

The four lens geometries provide different optical functions. Plano-Convex and Bi-Convex lenses are commonly used for converging and focusing beams, while Plano-Concave and Bi-Concave lenses are used for beam divergence and negative optical power. Having multiple focal lengths available makes the kit useful for rapidly testing different optical configurations.

The lenses have a 40-20 scratch-dig surface quality, which Thorlabs specifies to minimize scattering when the optics are used in laser applications. The focal length tolerance is ±1%, with a maximum centration error of 3 arcmin.
